Does Your Skincare Have Proof?
Posted on
If you’ve been considering CO₂ laser resurfacing, you’re probably wondering one thing: What is the recovery actually like?
To give you a realistic insight, we’re taking you behind the scenes of Nurse Maddy’s DOT CO₂ treatment journey, following the early stages of her healing process.
Every patient’s experience is unique, but understanding what to expect can help you feel more prepared before treatment.
Maddy’s treatment was tailored to address her individual skin concerns. Her treatment included DOT CO₂ Therapy to the mid and lower face, targeting acne scarring and CoolPeel® to the forehead, nose, upper lip and blended around the jawline to support overall skin rejuvenation.
Using the DEKA TETRA Pro platform allows treatments to be customised, combining different treatment settings to suit each person’s skin and goals.
Healing is only the first chapter. Collagen remodelling continues for months after treatment.
Preparation is an important part of any advanced skin treatment. Before her appointment, Maddy drank a minimum of 3 litres of water each day to support hydration and ceased Vitamin A and Vitamin C products five days before treatment, as advised by her clinician.
We will always provide personalised pre-treatment instructions based on your skin and treatment plan.
Immediately after treatment, it’s normal to experience redness, warmth and swelling as the skin begins its natural healing process. Over the following days, Maddy also experienced itchiness, a common part of recovery as the skin repairs itself.
To support healing, she followed a clinician-recommended skincare routine focused on gentle cleansing, hydration, daily SPF and LED light therapy, while avoiding exercise and following all aftercare instructions.
While the visible healing typically occurs over the first week or two, the benefits continue long after. As your skin recovers, DOT CO₂ Laser stimulates new collagen and elastin production beneath the surface.
This collagen remodelling continues for several months, meaning improvements in skin texture, firmness and the appearance of acne scarring may continue to develop over time.
Every healing journey is unique, and your clinician will discuss what you can realistically expect based on your individual skin concerns.
DOT CO₂ Laser may be recommended for concerns such as acne scarring, skin texture changes and more advanced signs of skin ageing.
The most appropriate treatment depends on your skin, concerns and goals.
